Patches For Mainstage 3 Forum

Hillsong Mainstage Patches

I'm currently getting really high CPU levels with Mainstage 3. Even at the edit screen when I'm not playing the CPU sits at around 30% (according to Activity Monitor this is actually more like 50% - is this normal?). At first I thought it was down to all my patches and VST's that I'm using.

But then I just loaded up the 'Tonewheel Organ' default concert (which is just 2 patches, both which use the Mainstage Vintage B3 instrument), and I still get CPU spikes up to 100% percent. Also for some reason my CPU spikes when I go into Performance mode. I'm using, Macbook Pro (Retina 2014), 8GB Ram, 2.6Ghz i5, 256 GB SSD I thought this would be good enough to run Mainstage (especially just a preset organ concert!) Are these specs good enough to run a keyboard rig in Mainstage 3? Anyone else having CPU issues with Mainstage 3? Is there anything I can do to make it run smoother? (I already restarted and just ran Mainstage with nothing else in background). Yes the Mac is good enough.

You starting with a blank template and loading just 1 instrument? No, for my current concert I loaded the keyboard rig, then deleted most of the patches I didn't need, loaded my VST's into existing patches, and then added new patches as I needed.

Are you using onboard audio card or an interface? Onboard audio. Are you referring to using a usb audio interface? I did consider using one, but the 'pros' for them didn't push me toward spending money on one. Although I didn't realise that using one would have an effect on CPU usage. Also, which version of OSX and what do you have your buffer set as? Yosemite 10.10.3.

Youtube To Video Er. My buffer (the I/O buffer size in Mainstage I assume?) is set to 128 samples Also which meter are you looking at for CPU spikes? The one I added to my Mainstage layout.

Do the spikes result in distortion or click, pop, or break in sound? But sometimes I get a bit of lag/distortion. Or just graphically spiking?

Try this, Start MainStage and just build a setup from scratch. Loading the one instrument. Whatever it is, EVB3 or whatever. Don't run on battery power, use the power adapter. In your applications folder is the Activity Monitor for all processes. Pull it up and see what you are getting in comparison to the MainStage's CPU performance meter.

Also, start experimenting with the buffer. Push it up to 256, 512, etc. And see when you start seeing the CPU usage drop. I know latency at 512 will suck, but if 256 for the moment is doable at least you can play. Are you just playing a few chords with bass on the organ, or are you digging into it with palm glisses and lots of sustained notes. I'm on How To Install Flash In Kali Linux Usb. 10.10.4 with MainStage 3.1.1 on a 2.7 Ghz Intel Core i5 with 8GB Ram iMac and my CPU is good.
