Sec_9 wrote:you guys on mac or pc? If you are on mac there is a little (free) app called farmpad which allows you to hack into the padkontrol and re program all the buttons to send midi data of your choice. Thank you for the info. No, I'm on a PC. I think I solved the problem.

I loaded a chromatic scene template and manually lowered the midi notes an octave. The option in the preferences is already at -2. So far it works. I have to admit, I haven't had the padkontrol for very long though. This is how I did it manually. Not sure if this is the standard way, but it worked for me.

Hit the button that says 'note/cc'. Grab the settings knob at the top and tap on the bottom left pad. The 'led' should read a note and octave like 'C1' or 'C2'. Turn the knob while tapping the pad until you see the same pad in Geist start to react to your taps. Whether it's C1, C2, C3, etc., at this point you can decide if you want to program the notes 'Chromatically' or according to a scale, such as C major. I just programmed them chromatically myself. Start moving right while tapping and use the knob to program the notes according to the octave you are in, like C2 - C#2 - D2 - D#2, etc., until you get to the last pad.

When you are done, save it as a preset in the Padkontrol editor. This way you can go back to it and make different scales and such. I don't have the Padkontrol in front of me, and I don't use it anymore, so I hope this is right.

But, at least it might point you in the right direction. There you go.

The padKontrol scene set file. Just open it in the padKontrol Editor Librarian, transmit to your padKontrol, and quit. Once you quit, go in Geist and go to Geist Preferences. You have to change the Midi Numbering to -1.

Rs232 Serial Port To Ttl Converter Communication Module For Arduino. The padKontrol doesn't go down to C-2 so am unable to program it that low, but the good folks at FXPansion already planned for that, so change it to -1, quit and restart Geist (as the popup warning says) and you're good to go. Load scene 1 and tap the pads, you'll see they're mapped like they are on screen. I didn't program anything else since there is a midi learn function in Geist for all the other parameters which are recognized as CC params. RTFM for how to do that. BTW, on page 10 of the Geist docs it tells you how the pads are mapped and to what midi number.
